It’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming!

Years ago, I recall being captivated by a message I heard Tony Campolo give that echoed a now famous Sermon first delivered by Pastor S. M. Lockridge.

These great Orators brilliantly and passionately contrasted the pain, tragedy and heartache of Good Friday with the deliverance, victory and joy of Easter Sunday; two days on the Christian calendar that could not be further apart emotionally yet are intrinsically intertwined.

Good Friday: God’s heartache – ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’ (Matthew 27:46) and God’s great love – ‘For God so loved the world that he gave…’ (John 3:16)

Easter Sunday: God’s victory – ‘But take heart! I have overcome the world.’ (John 16:33) and God’s reconciliation – ‘I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends’ (John 15:15)

This world is a world of contrasts – ‘battles and blessings’. Whatever it is you may be facing today, may you also know … Sunday’s coming!

God Bless, Brett
