Our vision and Mission

WE SEE GOD LEADING
A CARING FAMILY
THRIVING THROUGH DISCIPLESHIP
LOCALLY ENGAGED, REGIONALLY FOCUSED, GLOBALLY AWARE
AND CONSTANTLY GIVING BIRTH TO NEW MISSION.

To this end we pray and work, bringing vision into reality, the future into the present, to fulfill our mission.

Mission

The mission of a church is its role, function or purpose. It answers the questions, “Why do we exist?” and “What are we here to do?”

This enables us to check whether something is in line with its Biblical purpose. A church’s mission will be based on the Great Commission

(Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:45-48; John 20:21; Acts 1:8) and the Great Commandments (Matthew 22:34-40).

North Church's mission is ‘Making Disciples’. In 2011 we have furthered described this as:

A WHOLE PEOPLE, CARING FOR THE WHOLE WORLD.

Vision

Vision is a picture of what we believe God wants us to achieve over the long term, say five to ten years. It answers the question, “What would the church look like then?”

It is the destination that the church is heading towards, while doing its mission. It can be described in qualitative and quantitative terms. Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision (revelation) the people perish (cast off restraint).”

Without vision we go nowhere, we lose momentum, we can think of how things used to be, rather than of how they could be or ought to be. We have nothing to keep us on our toes in expectancy, or drive us to our knees in dependency.
